Position Overview

We’re hiring a Grant/Proposal Writer who can help us more effectively accomplish our mission as a company.  We provide our clients with innovative, research-based consulting solutions that create meaningful and lasting change in organizational cultures and the communities they serve. The change we want to make in our work is to dismantle systems of oppression and build more inclusive and equitable workplaces, communities, and institutions.

We've got exciting new projects in the works… so many that we need a hand to get them all done.

 

And that is where you come in!

We need you to lead the charge in the research, development, and execution of writing and submitting proposals/grants on behalf of Momentum Professional Strategy Partners! 

Who You'll Work With

This is a full-time role that reports directly to our Chief Executive Officer. You’ll work closely with our Communications Director to prepare, submit and manage grants and proposals to foundations, government entities and corporate sources.

We are looking for someone who has excellent project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks at a time and who also has dreams of long-term growth with Momentum Professional Strategy Partners. This is a remote, work-from-home position with occasional travel to our main office in Tacoma, WA. 

This position will also require flexibility, including working some occasional evenings and weekends. We run several live events per year that may require your in-person assistance.

Role

The Grant/Proposal Writer is responsible for researching and identifying public, foundation and corporate grant prospects; writing and submitting proposals for mission-based projects, including detailed budgets; submitting grant reports; cultivating and stewarding relationships with individual and major donors, as well as institutional and corporate funders.  A deep passion for social justice is a MUST! The ideal candidate embraces the opportunity to lead and drive the adoption and implementation of storytelling through lens of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA).

This position requires a strong and continued commitment to Momentum's mission and values.

Responsibilities & Essential Duties  

  • Fully understand Momentum's business strategy, services and our unique mission. 

  • Evaluate the funding needs, as well as the business goals of Momentum. 

  • Draft detailed and accurate grant/proposal reports to share with executive leadership.

  • Establish a grant/proposal process and playbook.

  • Establish a grant/proposal training plan for new members of the grant/proposal team.

  • Develop strategies to harness existing relationships, identify new opportunities, and secure partnerships with corporations and institutional foundations.

  • Write and submit multidisciplinary and collaborative grants/proposals, ranging in size, scope and complexity, to foundations, corporations, government, and other institutions.

  • Manage grant/proposal tracking processes and reporting schedule, satisfying all reporting requirements in a timely manner.

  • Partner with Chief Executive Officer on operational duties related to grant/proposal contracts and negotiations.

  • Actively engage in ongoing grant/proposal research to identify and prioritize funding opportunities.

Results

  • Revenue goals and targets are reviewed, reported on, and met on a consistent basis.

  • We have clear grant/proposal plans, systems, and processes that are being followed.

  • We have clear KPIs for proposals and grants that are being followed.

  • The Chief Executive Officer is able to focus on strategic efforts rather than tactical ones.

  • All grants/proposals are produced and submitted on time, following the plan and strategy. 

Requirements

As we’re looking for an ideal fit, our new Grant/Proposal Writer will likely possess what we’ve listed below:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, psychology, cultural studies or a relevant field.

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in a Grant/Proposal Writer role.

  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks at a time and pay close attention to detail.

  • Strong copywriting and editing skills, with the ability to adapt to different communication styles.

  • Conscientious and flexible, with a strong work ethic and team-player attitude.

  • Proficient in Google Docs, Google Sheets, Canva and Asana.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

  • Organized with attention to detail.

  • Excels at time management, planning, and processes, and the ability to adapt to change.

  • Detail-oriented.

  • Computer proficiency. 

  • You’re a problem solver and think ahead to ensure any challenges don’t greatly impact project progress or outcomes.

  • Delivers well ahead of deadlines.

  • You both love working with teams and being left alone so you can produce results.

  • You love operating in a fast-moving environment and adhere to deadlines while producing high-quality work each and every time.

  • Emotionally self-regulates even during times of pressure and stress to be present for the team and the Chief of Operations.

  • A quiet remote work environment, including:
